  • Alta Floresta

Begin the day with a shared transfer to Alta Floresta Airport for your Azul Airlines flight to Cuiabá, departing at 12:30 and landing at 13:45. Upon arrival, continue by road to Araras Lodge in the northern Pantanal. The journey takes about 2.5 hours, starting on a paved road passing farms and cattle ranches, then continuing along the rugged Transpantaneira Park Road—the main access to the Northern Pantanal. This scenic route offers excellent opportunities to spot the region’s rich wildlife, often seen resting, crossing, or basking along the road.

In the late afternoon, enjoy an introductory walk of approximately 1 to 1.5 hours. During this guided experience, learn about the lodge’s water and waste management systems, water heating processes, and the CORIXO flood channel home to caimans. Take in a breathtaking sunset from the observation tower, then visit the Barara area for a chance to interact with local ranchers and cowboys. If your arrival at the lodge is delayed, this walk will be scheduled for the following morning.

Araras Eco Lodge offers a range of immersive activities, including trekking and canoe excursions. Each day includes up to three outings: one early in the morning, one in the afternoon, and another after dinner. Groups are limited to a maximum of 10 participants per excursion. Activities typically last three to four hours and are always led by experienced naturalist guides. For added safety, all tours are continuously monitored by radio communication.

Trekking experiences generally last between 2 and 3 hours and allow you to connect closely with the natural surroundings while supporting the lodge’s strong ecological approach. During the wet season, raised walkways suspended about 1.5 meters above the ground ensure safe and comfortable access through flooded areas.

Canoeing provides a peaceful way to explore the riverside forest in near-total silence, enhancing your connection with the environment. These outings require minimal physical effort, as they take place in calm waters with little to no current.

Guided walks may take place during the day or at night. The nighttime spotlight tour is especially rewarding, offering chances to observe nocturnal wildlife. A memorable moment is spotting caimans, whose eyes glow red in the darkness, resembling tiny lights in the distance.
