However, the requirements vary by nationality. Travelers from several countries, including New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Japan, Norway, Sweden, and Switzerland, can enter Turkey without a visa for stays of less than three months.
When is the best time to visit Turkey?
Generally, our most recommended time to visit Turkey is the shoulder seasons (April-May, September-October), which enjoy pleasant weather and fewer crowds. But it also depends on your preferences. For beach holidays and water sports, visiting during the summer (June-August) would be better. However, the summer holiday is the peak season, so expect higher prices and larger crowds. For winter landscape and off-peak deals, consider traveling between December and February.
How many days are enough for a tour of Turkey?
It depends on the breadth and depth of your visit. Typically, 9 - 10 days are enough to cover major tourist spots in Istanbul, Cappadocia, Izmir, Ephesus, Pamukkale, Antalya, or Bodrum. However, if you wish to explore more Turkey has to offer: the culture, history, beach, cuisine, etc., a 2-week journey may be more appropriate. And yes, if your time is limited, Turkey always welcomes you back.
Should I buy a local SIM card when traveling to Turkey?
If you're staying in Turkey for an extended period, purchasing a local SIM card can offer better coverage and cheaper rates, making it a cost-effective and reliable option. However, if you're only in Turkey for a short stay, using your regular mobile phone plan might be more convenient—just be aware of potential roaming fees. Turkey has good mobile coverage, especially in major cities, though it may be limited in remote areas.
Is it common to use credit cards in Turkey?
International credit and debit cards are widely accepted in hotels, shopping malls, and restaurants throughout Turkey. The most common types of credit cards used in Turkey are Visa and Master Card.
