Itinerary

Welcome to Chile, a country renowned for its outstanding red wines and as the gateway to the legendary Easter Island. This journey combines visits to Chile’s premier wine regions with an exploration of the remote island, where you will uncover the intriguing history and traditions of the Rapa Nui civilization.

Upon arrival in Santiago, you will be met and transferred privately to your hotel for check-in. The remainder of the day is free for you to relax or explore at your own pace. If you feel up to it, take a stroll around the iconic Plaza de Armas, a lively square framed by historic architecture and filled with street performers, offering a vibrant taste of South American culture.

  • Santiago

Chile’s unique geography creates ideal conditions for viticulture, and many of the country’s most celebrated wine regions are located near Santiago, making them perfect for day trips from the capital.

Today’s excursion takes you to the Casablanca Valley, one of the newest wine-producing regions in the area. Its proximity to the Pacific Ocean brings cooler temperatures than most inland valleys, a key factor behind the exceptional quality of its white wines. Visit the boutique Casa Marín winery in the coastal village of Lo Abarca, where you will tour the vineyards and facilities before enjoying a tasting of their high-quality wines.

Your wine exploration continues in the Colchagua Valley, a region celebrated for its rich, full-bodied red wines, especially Chile’s signature carménère. About a two-hour drive from Santiago, the renowned Viña Viu Manent is set amid expansive landscaped grounds featuring elegant colonial-style buildings. Here, you will enjoy a scenic tour of the estate aboard a traditional horse-drawn carriage, followed by a tasting of several premium wines.

The day also includes a visit to Viña Montes in the nearby Apalta Valley. This contemporary winery is known for its striking design, particularly the impressive barrel cellar arranged like an amphitheater. Inside, nearly a thousand barrels rest while soft Gregorian chants create a unique and atmospheric tasting experience.

This morning, a private transfer will take you to the airport for your flight to Easter Island, one of the most isolated inhabited places on Earth. The island is framed by three volcanoes forming a triangular shape, offering a serene escape from the hustle of daily life. Here, you can listen to the Pacific waves crashing along the shore and uncover the intriguing history and traditions of the Rapa Nui people.

Upon arrival, hotel staff will welcome you and escort you to your accommodation. The remainder of the day is free for you to relax or explore the island at your leisure.

  • Easter Island

Easter Island is famous for its massive stone figures, known as moai, which range in height from 3 to 10 meters, with the average around 4.5 meters. These remarkable statues were crafted by the indigenous Rapa Nui people, who are believed to have settled on the island around 800 AD.

Today, enjoy a full-day Seat-In-Coach tour to uncover the mysteries behind these iconic stone sculptures. Discover why the round stone, Te Pito Kura, near the largest Ahu Te Pito Kura, is said to influence compass directions. Learn why almost 400 moai remain scattered across the hills of Rano Raraku, and why Ahu Tongariki is the perfect spot to watch the sunrise, particularly between December 21 and March 21. The tour also includes a visit to Ahu Akahanga, offering a glimpse of Easter Island as it appeared when first encountered by Europeans, and a chance to relax on the white sandy beach of Anakena.

At a certain point in history, the old Moai-centered belief system gradually gave way to the worship of the Creator God, Make Make. To honor Make Make, the islanders held the famous Birdman Competition, where participants had to retrieve the first egg of the season from the offshore islet of Motu Nui. The winner earned the prestigious title of Birdman for that year, a role of great significance in Rapa Nui society.

Spend the morning exploring the sacred village of Orongo, the ceremonial site of the Birdman Competition. Wander among the circular stone houses and admire the volcanic rock walls adorned with bird-man motifs, gaining a deeper understanding of this fascinating ritual.

In the afternoon, visit Ahu Akivi, one of the most mysterious groups of moai on the island. Unlike other statues, which stand along the coast facing inland, these moai face the ocean from inland, creating a unique alignment. From this site, enjoy a short hike to two nearby archaeological highlights: the Ana Te Pahu cave and Puna Pau volcano, the source of the Pukao stone hats that once adorned several moai.
